511  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / Auto greet visitors when they knock on doors on: May 06, 2006, 06:31:49 am
This mod called my attention because I'm long time out after a mod that automatically greet a visitor thru the interaction "ask to join"
I mean, in TS1 I had a mod that if a Sim was just passing by and a resident was doing something joinable (playing chess or in a hot-tub), I could hit "ask to join" and the passing-by was automatically greeted.
The other problem I have is that most of my houses are built over hills and have long stairway down. A Sim rings the bell and walk away from the door, what in my design represent too much up-and-down.
Maybe not many people would agree but I would prefer to greet my visitors self by just shaking the head Smiley
512  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / Noise doesn’t wake anyone up New Universal Version Available(5/14/06) on: May 06, 2006, 06:21:47 am
There's only one special situation that disturbs me and it is when a toddler wakes up if a baby is just placed on the ground in the same room. I would agree if the baby was crying but not just by being placed there. We never know where Sims are going to drop a baby.
Some situations are even funny - they wake up if someone turn the computer on but sleep with a karaoke machine at full power in the same room.

Going to test your mod but sure I'll play around with it first.
Don't worry, not stealing from you, but just that my game is far too modded to install whatever mod virginally. Smiley
513  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / The Gravity Statue on: February 26, 2006, 12:05:22 pm
Quite interesting. I like free items put loose together. Have a question - you used single blue, but do you actually know the effect of different colors placed on it? I mean, do you know how your object wraps colors?
Square objects use to stretch colors on the long or wide, but round objects can inclusive have color points out of the 2dimensional center.
Just wondering because I got some meshes that cannot be more than monocolored. The combination you created could simulate some spacial sci-fi like fantasies, it all depends if possible to add multi-color to them.

I like refreshing tones. Would you mind to give links to your possible creations for matching carpets/flooring? Thanks.

Hi Warlokk!
My wish is to replace the Elder meshes to adopt the Adult meshes. I made a small try and replaced the nude meshes from female elders to use the body of the adult females but it was not that successful. I see no reason to have a sudden degradation of my Sims body. So long I have been using adult outfits in the elder to keep the shape, but I wish that this change is definitive and not needing extra copies of the same clothing to add access to the elders. Could you do it? Thanks.
516  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Can you change skintone in-game? on: February 18, 2006, 11:21:27 am
As this procedure has been widely used, I would like to place a warning to users so that they know what happened, well, when it happens.
It seems to be an inconsistence in the features replacement done via SimSurgery or other physical manipulations on Sims. You can create a second Sim for surgery purpose but you can end-up with a Sim that has somewhat rubber face (distorts when the Sims speaks or laugh or any facial movements)
There are some files in the Sims chars features that still cannot be edited. Replace items in use causes that the reference to those items is simply erased from the directory of material used. It does not recover. Furthermore, including items via SimPe multiplies the size of character file. Still unknown what kind of garbage is collected on the characters but the size increases on too fast speed. It seems that the game does not get rid of add-ons that were removed from use. Many people has been claiming of characters that suddenly become unplayable for no apparent reason.
I make extreme tests in the game and suddenly I found out that my game was 7.8Gb big being that my downloads folder is only 500Mb and I have only two extra Test 'hoods that I know the size.
I ended-up finding out that I had 5.6GB garbage collected in the game.
517  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Male Hair / Night: male hair mesh on: February 18, 2006, 06:21:26 am
Dah! Just a couple of questions before I start to download hairs. Are they correctly classified? I mean are they cloned from the correct color bin. I know that custom is custom but I hate when I come to use a custom hair and get black hair with blond brows. If you know what I mean. Smiley

If you are talking about a custom skin that you used and got disappointed with it, well, if you can deal with custom skins self, open the skin (custom) you have in SimPe. Export all the LIFOs. Open your favourite Paint Program and play with colors. Note: It's better your paint program can deal with layers and have possibility to work with tones curves, because you have to make exactly the same color changes in all items. It's stone break work but it is called replacement package.
As soon as you get One Replacement Package you can change it how many times you want at your own present mood. Modifications done in replacement packages have immediate effect in-game and does not involve any manipulation of characters. You can even replace a Maxis skin if you want.
