1  Simmers' Paradise / Sims / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - April O'Neil on: September 29, 2009, 05:15:25 pm
I usually make my own characters, but I'm having no luck with this one.

I imagine the Fashion Model Bodytype would fit this one the best, the issue I'm having is with the hair.

If anyone would like to give it a shot, that would rock.

And rather than creating two individual threads, maybe someone refer me to a site that has a hair mesh like this..

I've been looking for ages, but most sims sites seem to cater to super long hair meshes. Sad

2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Free Time and Hacks - the 101 on: March 05, 2008, 01:05:07 am
I'm trying to put together a list of the hacks that have already been updated and the ones that need to be updated.

1. Crammy Boy's Nudist hack
Someone else over at MATY updated it for BV and I believe they're updating it for FT.  But at the moment, it does have a few bugs if you use it with FT.  Your male sims may stay nude longer than normal and some have said the fitness enthusiasm at times doesn't boost with the hack.

2. Perfect Gardens and Perfect Plants
TwoJeffs updated them the other day I believe, you can get them over at the Inteenimater site.

3. Inteenimater
It current does not work with FT.. updates usually come about a month after a new expansion.

4. DMA Sims 2
None of the packs are FT ready..

5. XXXsims woohoo package 3
It's an adult oriented mod but I'm not linking it here.  Quite a few had an issue with it causing their sims to become inanimate with BV, the issue seems to have become more common since FT.  I don't believe they're going to update this one but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

6. See Them 2.31
According to its creator, it is totally 100% compatible with Free Time, so no need for an update

7. Paladin's Place
The RC objects he has up need to be updated for FT since FT changed the code for remote control objects, he's working on that now.  There are a few other mods that need fixes.. you can find the list with the fixes here.  But for the most part most of his stuff works without any updates.  He even has a new mod up to change the pre-selected enthusiasm each sim has.

8. Sim Sourcery from MTS2 seems to be working.. but I'm currently running it through the fire now..

Updated - 03.05.08
3  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Women / Punk Outfit for the Fashion Model (recolor) on: January 10, 2008, 07:02:02 pm
This is just a simple re-color with a tiny image edit.

I borrowed Corrines punk outfit which can be found here.  Then I just changed the band logo and recolored the shoes to give it a more deathrock look.  The band image may be a bit choppy, for some reason adobe shows everything brighter than image actually is.

Nothing special..

Just figured I'd share..

You'll need the mesh from here

Thanks go out to Warlokk and Corrine for the mesh and outfit..
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Bon Voyage: New Patch.. New Issues on: October 10, 2007, 04:26:09 pm
There's a big thread on MATY, N99 and a few other sites regarding the new patch for Bon Voyage.

Maxis has been using securom since April of 2007 to curb piracy, not that it helps.  Supposedly the new patch for Bon Voyage uses the newest version of Securom and supposedly the newest version is a bit more spyware like.  I've never had an issue with securom in the past, but times change.  So I for one am not installing the patch.  The patch does not resolve the nvidia issue, it only supposedly fixes the random spawning of tour guides, but the hacks on MATY already covered that.  The patch instructions also claim that it may not fix issues with a lot/family and the player may need to create a new family/lot in order to take advantage of the patch.

There is no nocd crack for the new patch as of yet.  So if you install the patch and you're using a nocd crack, it'll just screw things up, so don't do it.  There may not be a nocd crack for the patch.  Maxis doesn't number their patches, ie: they don't call it 1.1.  So the scene kids who create nocd cracks often times have no idea the game has been patched.  On top of that, the patches take so long to be done, the kids who do the nocd cracks have already moved on to bigger and better games.

I heard the patch also does not resolve the audio clipping.  As I've stated in another thread, what fixes that is going with internal sound rather than a creative soundcard.  I have a feeling maxis just said "screw testing with soundcards.. lets just test with onboard sound".

Anywho..

Securom is known to cause certain dvd burning software to have issues..

Here's the list..

--Fantom CD Emulator
--Alcohol 120%
--Nero Image Drive
--Phantom CD
--Clone CD
--Ark Virtual Drive
--Veritas DLA
--Daemon Tools
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Free Time? on: October 06, 2007, 02:21:09 am
I was browsing on EBGames when I saw this..

http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=647228

Maxis really has a big set of @#$#s.  They haven't even patched up Bon Voyage yet and the other one is already in production?

Wikipedia has it listed as "The Sims 2: Hobbies" but EBgames has it listed as "Free Time".  So I imagine they'll be able to sew and build race cars or something?

Then we'll all install it.. it'll cause crashes for those using nvidia cards.. and Maxis will place the blame on Nvidia again.
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Bon Voyage: Field Test Volume 2 on: September 30, 2007, 01:32:57 pm
I decided to test Bon Voyage on the new pc..

The differences between the two pc's are quite extreme..

The first pc had a Creative Audigy 4 soundcard, nvidia 7600, ata 40 gig drive, 1 gig of ram, and a pentium 4 2.53..

The second pc has internal sound, Nvidia 8600, 2 gigs of ram, sata 350 gig drive, and a 2.4 dual core processor.

The first issue that vanished was the sound clipping, random freezing.  That was most likely caused by the Audigy 4 not working right with Bon Voyage.  I'm not sure what Maxis did different this time out, the other expansions didn't have that issue.  With the removal of that issue things seemed better, was able to max out the graphic settings again.

The issue that remained..

Sometimes when a sim walks to a community lot, if the sim interacts with another sim or an object, a pop up will hit the screen saying the application encountered an error and will close.  If the sim drives to the lot, the issue doesn't seem to be there.  I haven't tried that with the taxi, just the sims own car.  It could be hack related because even when I removed most of the cc content to test it, I left the anti redundancy hack and the vampwere fix.

All in all, I think Maxis misrepresented the necessary recommended requirements the expansion needs to run with everything set to high.

It would be nice if Maxis decided to one day release a Sims game with everything already included.  This expansion pack thing they do seems to just open a door to new issues each time, of course it also opens the door for to make a lot more money.  And judging by the top ten chart I'm looking at right now, Maxis will be rollin' in the money for quite awhile.
7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Sims backup help.. and more dirt on BV on: September 20, 2007, 12:38:01 pm
I'm about to build a new pc, it'll be using a 250 gig sata drive, currently I'm using an ata.

In other words.. I'm going to have to re-install the Sims stuff..

So this is what I need to know..

How do I back up my families, lots and stuff.

I know the downloads folder and saved sims folder need to be saved to a cd.  But do I just take the EA Games folder from within "my documents" and burn that to a cd?  Is that how it's done?  Now let us say that is exactly what I do, I have a question within that one.

Lets say I have the following installed..

Sims 2
Nightlife
Pets
Seasons
Bon Voyage

So I back up the EA Games folder...

Install the new drive.. put on XP..

Then install..

Sims 2
Nightlife
Open for Business
Pets
Seasons
Bon Voyage..

Will that cause an issue with backing up the data I saved from the previous install since the previous didn't include OFB.  Or do I install OFB after I install Bon Voyage. I usually go in release date order.

Speaking of the game..

I always use..

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

To check to see if I can a run game.

The optimal system requirements for Bon Voyage are quite a bit different than what EA had listed last I checked.  This may explain some of the crashing and lag..

Processor
Recommended: 2.4 G

Ram
Recommended: 1 GB

Seasons had slightly different requirements..

Processor
Recommended: 2.4 GHz

Ram
Recommended: 512 MB

So it hopped by 512.. accorded to srtest.

You always want to have 512 more than recommended.. so when I get the new system built.. it'll have 2 gigs.. see if that helps.  I'm also going onboard sound rather than my audigy 4.  The guys at the shop said they even are having issues with creative's soundcards and clipping with other games.  Supposedly Creative is making half ass products now..

Then again.. I heard a few complain about lag using 2gigs of ram.. while running a dual core machine.  However, I forgot to check to see what graphics card they're using.  I notice a lot of good dual core machines are being sold with geforce 8400's which are crap cards.  I mean you can get them for 40 bucks on Ebay.

EA doesn't seem to want take responsibility for that annoying black screen error some are getting.  They seem to want to blame Nvidia on that one.  I guess they forgot they're the ones who are supposed to test their software on what is currently out there.. not what may come later.  Although, I installed the beta drivers Nvidia has on their website.  I get a few more hangups while the sims are doing they're thing, but the black screen sometimes happens less.  It still happens.. but less.. I think.  But the warning is still there.. when the game goes to that darker blue screen with the sims hourglass.. that's usually a warning to save and get the hell out.  The second time it happens.. the black screen usually hits.. It also happens a lot less if you only have a small house with one or two sims on the lot.  The bigger the lot/home.. the more sims.. the more prone it is to go boom.

Oh well..

8  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 FAQ's / The Werewolf FAQ on: October 21, 2006, 05:35:02 pm
There are questions and answers scattered all over this board.. best to try to put em all in the same place.

1.) How do the sims become werewolves?

a.) There are two ways for a sim to become a werewolf in pets.  The first way is to get bitten by the leader of the pack which is just a black wolf with glowing eyes.  If you're friends with this wolf and he visits your lot between the hours of 20:00 and 6:00.. he may "nibble" your sim and turn him or her.  Once your sim becomes a werewolf that sim can "savage" another sim in the same age group and spread the curse to them.  An adult werewolf cant savage a teen and a teen cant savage an adult.. has to be within the same age group.

2.) Once a sim is a werewolf, is he or she always a werewolf or does he or she turn at certain times?

a.) The cursed sim will go through the transformation every night between the hours of 20:00 and 6:00.  At 6:00 the sim will transform back, sometimes.  Once in awhile there's a glitch and the transformation back doesn't happen.  Your sim won't be able to savage, howl, or call other wolves but the sim will still look like the werewolf.  This seems to be merely a bug, it eventually fixes it self the next morning..

3.) My custom sims don't seem to turn into werewolves, why?

a.) Custom sims can be cursed but the only thing that will change on the custom male when he changes is the hair on his head and he'll have the werewolf menu.  Custom skins and I believe custom eyes, do not get furry, not sure why, not even sure if I wanna know why.  Female sims keep their default or custom hair by default during a transformation.  I guess maxis figured female werewolves like to keep their beautiful hair when they change..

4.) Are there any cheats to get werewolves right away?

a.) No.  But there is a quicker way to get the leader of the pack to at least visit.  Type "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" in the console box.. then hold down on the shift key.. right click on the mail box.. click on make npc.. you may then need to click on "more" and then you'll see something about the leader of the pack.. click on that.  Within an hour the glowing eye wolf will come.. show him a lot of affection.. and keep using that cheat to call him back every time he leaves.  By the next night he'll nibble you.. that is if you showed him enough affection the night before.

5.) Can werewolves breed?

a.) yes

6.) Do they pass on the curse to their offspring?

a.) It doesn't appear that they do, sad, huh?

7.) Do the werewolves bite their own children?

a.) No, as it states above.. adult werewolves cannot "savage" teens or children.

If there are any other questions that should be added to this.. just post em Wink...

I'm assuming that when Simpe gets updated for Pets, you'll be able to just switch em fast that way.  But time will tell...
