1  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Gossip Girl Clothes on: November 06, 2010, 01:53:55 pm
Where I can find the clothes from tv series "Gossip Girl?" For Sims, of course.

Hi dadasdasdad,

I've never seen the Gossip Girls show, but I believe this site has some clothes patterned after clothes worn on the show ...

I hope this helps.

2  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Neighborhood Help on: September 15, 2010, 02:08:18 pm
OK, to start: packaging pre-played families into houses = Very Bad Idea. Moving an occupied and pre-played house into the sim bin ends up ripping the character files as the sims' relationships to sims in other houses get severed. And borkination of all sorts ensues when these occupied pre-played houses are placed in a new hood. Do not do this if you want your new hood to survive longer than a month or two.

Do you have FT? Just use the new neighbourhood terrain elevation cheat/tool to flatten the hood. You may need to temporarily move families to the sim bin and make copies of their houses into the lots and houses bin (unoccupied!) so you can place everything back down again once you're done leveling. The cheat is modifyNeighborhoodTerrain [on/off] and you enter it in hood view and then use [= Raise, ]=lower, \=level, p=Smooth terrain

Hi SenkoTwiik,

Engram is correct about about the problems with trying to package lots with families.  However, if you use the neighborhood terrain tool, then you can use the lot move tool to move a lot to another location while leveling the area which had been around it.  I've done this successfully with no indications of problems  (of course if anyone knows of reasons to not do this, let me know).

The problem is that the neighborhood terrain tool won't allow you to select terrain near or occupied by a lot (at least a lot with sims residing).  Moving the lots away, modifying terrain and moving the lots back worked for me.

3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Strange Problem... on: August 29, 2010, 03:34:26 pm
I've been wondering if I should post this or not, but after having just played my game again, and seeing that the problem didn't correct itself like I'd hoped, I decided to post my question. Yesterday I was playing my game, and a college professor friend of one of my Simmies called him (don't ask me why he's friends with a Uni professor, lol). At the time, the gardener was over doing his job (and complaining). After the Uni professor "Prof. Ebony" and the Sim were finished talking, I directed the same male Sim to go outside and pull the weeds/trim the shrubs the gardener, for whatever reason, refused to manicure. Because it is now Winter in my game, the Sim changed into some Outerwear (Using a mod I found here that allows for more Outerwear clothing options) and then started pulling weeds/trimming shrubs. A short while later, I got this weird pop-up message from Prof. Ebony (I wrote it down, even). It said: "Prof. Ebony says, 'You invited me over to spend the night, but then you didn't let me get any sleep! I'm leaving!'" Now, prior to this, I had NEVER ONCE invited her over to my sims' house to spend the night! At any rate, now I can't get the damn pop-up to go away; it'll pop-up, I'll click "OK" then, sometimes not even a few seconds later, it'll pop-up again! Seriously, it's driving me insane! What's more, it only affects the sim's home lot; as a test, I sent him to a Community Lot and didn't get the stupid pop-up. I was thinking it could be the Outerwear mod, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lady Aran,

This is not a definitive reply, but what I think happened.  I don't have the outerwear mod you have, but I do have all EPs and SPs.

I believe the gardener's actions were normal.  At least I've seen the same effect when one of my sims tried to help the gardener out.  If the gardener had other types of things to do, such as raking leaves, then they would move to that but didn't finish with the original task.  It probably has something to do with the way the tasks are queued up for the gardener, e.g., one "trim bushes" task.  If they can't do that task on even one bush, then they quit trying.  On the other hand, I have seen cases where the gardener couldn't physically get to a bush or shrub and proceeded to move on to another.  So a household sim helping out could be a special case.

The message from the Professor I've seen from other guest sims who were not invited to spend the night.  It's because their energy has dipped to desperation levels.  A difference is that when it has happened to me, the sim in desperation has then left immediately and the message was shown only that one time.  I believe one way to fix this could be to give the professor more energy and you could then spend more time with them or say goodbye.  There are objects and "cheats" for giving a guest energy.  Let me know if you wish to know of any.

That the professor isn't leaving is of concern.  I don't imagine you have them in a room without doors or the exit is otherwise blocked to them?  Are you seeing any signs of frustration in the professor?  Thought bubbles of doors with a red 'X', stamping their feet, etc.?

Hopefully someone else will have a more definitive answer.

4  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Re: Tabula Rasa Not Listed in Spell Book *SOLVED* Thank you, simsplyr! on: June 27, 2010, 05:25:52 pm
What exactly is the Tabula Rasa spell? I don't mean to hijack but since it is on the same lines of this post, I thought I would ask. What is the spell called that witches cast that can bring a recentley deceased sim back? I read it on that sims wikia site. I can link to the site if needed, but I was just wondering if your witch had to be good, evil or neutral? Thanks for the help.

Hi SimGirl20,

Tabula Rasa is a memory eraser.  According to the Prima guide, it will not only erase all memories in the target sim, but will set all relationship values to 0/0.  I don't know if it will affect the furious bit, I'd assume so.

For bringing back a sim, evil witches have the Vivificus Zombiae, but it brings them back as a zombie.  It also requires your witch to almost be of the highest evil alignment (-900 to -1000).

Wow. I didn't know that. I'll try getting my witches to cause a little mischief and see if that helps. Thank you.
:Hammie:

Hi Hammie,

Ooops, look like I was wrong ... *ugh*  that's hard to say.  Tongue

I had in my poor excuse for a memory that witch alignment was a two number system like gender preference.  I just looked around my test neighborhood and scanned the Prima guide again, but it appears that witch alignment is a single value.  I tried looking for witch alignment values in SimPE, but I couldn't find them, only references to the witch behaviors (let's wring our hands evilly).  The ranges for this value are -1000 to 1000.  -201 to -1000 is an evil witch, -200 to +200 is a neutral witch, 201 to 1000 is a good witch.  If an alignment is expressed in percent, then divide the alignment value by 10, e.g., -510 is an evil witch with 51% aligment to evil.

Since the Tabula Rasa spell needs an alignment value of -500 to -1000 and neutral requires alignment values of -200 to +200, I'm not sure how you got your neutral witch to cast it.  I'm not disputing that it occurred, just that I don't understand (a rather common occurance).

So I'm thinking that my idea of increasing the evil alignment, while maintaining a neutral alignment, will not work.  You can, of course, increase your evil alignment to -501 or so and that will grant you the spell, but your character will then be evil.

Sorry about that.  simsplyr

Hi ienjoyhamsandwiches,

I suspect your problem might have to do with the internal alignment numbers.  According to the Prima Guide for Apartment Life, the minimum evil alignment for Tabula Rasa is 50%.   I don't know how the good/evil numbers interact specifically, but I'd imagine that at an earlier point you had achieved a neutral alignment with evil still 50% or more.  Since then doing good spells and neutral spells has made it drop to below 50%.

You might try doing a few other evil spells to see if Tabula Rasa suddenly becomes available again.  If you or someone knows of a witch alignment score viewer, that could help.  However, keep in mind that Prima Guides have been known to be wrong.

7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: testingcheatsenabled on: April 24, 2010, 02:58:00 pm
Thank you, everyone, for taking the time to reply with possible solutions.  Unfortunately, I already tried most of the suggestions... double-checking my spelling, typing in the cheat while in the neighborhood, holding down shift.  The only thing I hadn't tried was the capital letters as suggested.  I just went into the game and tried that... nothing!  Could I possibly have to do something in the files?

Hi thrmn,

I believe the "correct" capitalization is "boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true".  Change "true" to "false" to turn it back off.

I haven't had any problems with using any forms of capitalization, but I understand that earlier EPs, like you have, are more sensitive to it.

Try this spelling and see if that helps.

8  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Vacation Home Crash Help Needed on: April 21, 2010, 05:01:50 pm
Have you tried removing your mods/hacks to see if the problem was due to a mod conflict?

Hi Caffeinated.joy,

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, I did, although I forgot about the CC cars and they were still in game but all fixups, other objects and animations had been removed.  Clothing and sims were left in.  I then tried using the maxis "CC disabled" and restarted to see if that would help.  The CC has since been reinstalled and re-enabled.

Thanks,

9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Vacation Home Crash Help Needed on: April 21, 2010, 04:39:08 pm
Hi Gang,

I have two sims in a vacation home which crashes to the desktop when I try to play the home after a save.  Since the sims are from a larger household, I cannot play their original household until this is solved.  Searching in various ways has not come up with a solution and only one post even close to what I am experiencing.  Any help (or pointers to help I've missed) would be appreciated.

Neighborhood (NH) is Verona, sub-NH is Takemizu (far east).  The home in sub-NH is a copy of a vacation home template and I've played other copies of the template for other sims in this sub-NH and other sub-NH's.  I'm running on win2k, have essentially all of the EPs and SPs (there's one SP I don't have which I understand was replaced).

The sims "who are on vacation" in the home are a brother and sister from a household where the father has the deed to the vacation home.  A step-mother, and three step-sibblings currently reside in the original household.  Home was once saved and re-entered successfully, but this second save is crashing just after the 7th bright blue tile on load.  A freshly started OETreeDelete.xls file has two entries of "holiday hacker" and that's it.  As far as I can remember, I left the brother and sister just off the porch, ready for another excursion, but they might be finishing up an accupuncture massage to boost energy.

The only thing close which a search has found involved a campsite with the same problem.  This was over at moreawesomethanyou.  Advice was to use the "tombstone of L&D" or simbiology's sim teleporter to remove the sims from the home.  I have used the teleporter to remove the two sims from the vacation home, but the main NH household still thinks they are on vacation and that household is unplayable.  The brother and sister are playable now.  I also cannot do anything with the vacation home, it still crashes on an attempt to load and I cannot bulldoze it.  I've taken a peek with simPE to see if there is a "on vacation" flag, but didn't see anything obvious.  I cannot play, move out or bulldoze with the original household either.  Other homes in the NH are playable and I put in a new sim as a test which is also playable.

I had made a copy of the sims2 data directory (which includes downloads) just before starting to play with the crash but with much supernatural pleading and little hope, I did try reloading the latest backup.  The previous backup was 12 days earlier and I've done too much since to want to reload it (e.g., the original household didn't exist 12 days before).  I tried removing some auto-rebuilt files, thumbnails, caches, etc.  I disabled and removed hacks and CC (although I forgot the cars, but no new ones have been added in months and none exist in the sub-NH)  I've used Pescado's bat box to reset sims, including the brother and sister after retrieval.  Nothing I have tried seems to clear that vacation home or make it in anyway changeable.

I had this load problem once with a non-vacation house where I was able to "move" the sims out and bulldoze the home with no noticeable ill effects.

I suspect my only option for the original household will be to have some sim(s) have the rest of the family move in with them (by game or forced with a "cheat")  but I am hesitant to do this as it will not transfer any placed items.  It will also leave two homes in the game which I can't play or remove and space is at a premium in Verona and Takemizu.  The placed items aren't that big of a problem though and I'll lose them if necessary.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, simsplyr
