181  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / how do i create a package file? on: May 12, 2007, 06:53:42 pm
Quote from: Skaarjy;723908
Dumb question, after you've packaged your sim how do you know which other packages are also needed? Like skintones, hair...etc.  I have no clue what I've used.

All of that stuff should be packaged with your sim.

Download and install Clean Installer if you haven't already.  Double click on your sim package and it'll bring up a window listing everything that's included in that package.

try this tutorial here-

You have to clone the sim that you extracted and package the clone- not the original extract.

there's a really good/easy to follow tutorial by Jonesi at reflexsimsforum to combine skylights with Maxis' rooves.

but you should probably be aware that if you have Seasons, deforming floor tiles for the purpose of making a roof will most certainly allow rain/snow inside your house.
184  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Where can I find eyes? WARNING: This is not a request! on: May 07, 2007, 06:03:40 pm
if you're referring to the shape, size or orientation of the eye- then yes it's something you have to make yourself in CAS or bodyshop.

go into your game options>graphics settings and make sure to turn reflections on.
187  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Downloads not showing up on: April 27, 2007, 01:05:10 pm

I have been playing sims 2 ever since it came out and have been downloading for just as long. Well I've been noticing that latley most of my downloads aren't showing up. The main ones are the walls and floors. I know I'm doing it right...is there anything that I could try to get this fixed?

Here's a question- Are you using Clean Installer to install your downloaded walls and floors? Or are you just putting the sims2 packs in your downloads folder?  Look at the file types for your walls/floors- what are they?  they should be package files (.package)

I am having the same problem except for that it is my CAS and collection folder downloads that aren't appearing! I have tried everything I can think of. It was working when I got seasons and then I had to reinstall it because my brand new computer (which is PC and I'm deffinately going back to a mac with intel because of all the probs ive had with it! I got it before mac intel and I wanted the sims expansions when the PC people go it . lol) was crashing every 15mins. That was when they stopped showing. I reinstalled again and it still isn't showing! Don't know if this is a bit different but I know how frustrating everyone is who are having these problems! If some one figures it out I will be VERY grateful! Smiley
Thanx.

When you reinstalled Seasons did you make sure to enable custom content and then quit and restart the game?  Custom Content is not automatically enabled after you install/re-install an expansion pack.
188  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Where Have THey Gone? [[Download Issues]] on: April 27, 2007, 12:44:53 pm
You're welcome.

I am assuming that you are using a Windows based PC, is this correct?

If you know how to create folders, then you know how to create subfolders.
A subfolder is a folder inside of another folder.
Right click inside your download folder- when the menu pops up, go to new>folder.  Voila!  You now have a subfolder.  Name it what you want.

As far as copying items out of your LotCatalog folder- as far as I know, the only things that belong in there are items prefixed with cx_ for example:
cx_Character_cx_00000017_11f1177b.package
cx_00000048.package

So any items that have cx_ at the beginning of their name need to stay inside of the LotCatalog folder.  Select and cut your downloaded files out of there and paste them into your Downloads folder or the appropriate Downloads subfolder that you created.

put the furniture/doors/household products that you downloaded into your Download folder.  You can keep things organized (highly suggested) by creating subfolders within your Download folder.

As for the Bodyshop items, they go in the download folder as well.

Also make sure that you have custom content enabled in your game settings.

Yikes!  I am terribly sorry that happened.  I just came across this today ( a little late, I know)

(specifically post #10)

Probably best that you wait until SimPe is updated for Seasons.
Again, my sincerest apologies.

194  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Packaged Lot Size on: April 20, 2007, 12:58:24 pm
if I recall correctly, when you furnish/package a house with all maxi's objects, those objects are not actually included in the package (as they are already in every game)- just the basic footprint/info of what goes where.  The only thing that gets included is the with the lotSegmentForUpload is custom content.

If you look at your packaged lot with clean installer, you'll find that not only does it include the custom content that you intended, but almost every recolor of that item that you have in your game becomes attached (unless it's a maxi's recolor) to the package, even if you didn't use those recolors in your decorating/building.

My suggestion would to be to look at the package with clean installer, deselect all of the unused recolors and re-save the package.  I *think* you'll have to save it with a different name or at a different location than the original (or you'll end up with an empty/otherwise borked package).

There's a "No Freezing or Overheating" hack by Carrigon at dinnerbell.

Your sim still gets hot and cold, but it keeps them from combusting or passing out from the temperature.

You have to register AND be logged in to even see Carrigon's section.  It's both free and well worth the effort.
