If you happen to know the filenames of the sims you want to delete you can just delete the files from the saved sims folder or Downloads, depending on where they are. I have all the insim selfsims in their own folder, if I want to remove them all at once (yeah right ) I can just delete the entire folder and they all will be gone at once.

I have never had a moments trouble with a program Yakov has recommended, therefore the problem must lie in user error. Pity, those are good, useful programs.

You could try closing windows processes with the task manager. I'm not sure if it will make the game load faster, but it will play faster once you are in the game.

Well, some more information would be helpful. What are your system specs? You might not have enough memory. What video card do you have installed? Have you tried removing the \My Documents\EA Games folder completely and starting the game to see if the problem persists?
