Really confused with the familyfunds cheat

Could someone explain in detail how to do the "addfamilyfunds" cheat? I just dont understand it!! ,The explanation on the "help" thing at the "cheat menu" in the game isnt overly clear to me, its annoying to move a family in to a cheap lot then have to move them out again to better one.

type /familyFunds (your sim family's last name here) +(amount of money)

make sure you don't put a space between the plus sign and the amount, and also you can't have more than 9,999,999 in money.

I'm not sure what's confusing. As Jaccirocker said, to make the family have exactly $100000, you need to type exactly this:

familyFunds Wilhurn 100000

To add $100000 to the money they already have, type this:

familyFunds Wilhurn +100000

An alternative to familyfunds is to use motherlode or kaching which give the family 50,000 or 1000.  These are used only in the lot view.  familyfunds can be used in neighborhood view or lot view (may be EP dependent for lot view).

Also, with higher EPs (Seasons and above) comes the money cheat.  (i.e.  money 5000 for making the funds exactly 5000 simoleans, or money +5000 to add 5,000 simoleans to the existing funds.)  This also is only available in the lot view.  

(...and if you ask me, EA's been a little bit too generous on adding in those money cheats.  I would think we'd only need one universal one... ah, I miss the days of 'rosebud'.  :rofl:)

The only problem I've ever seen with familyfunds happens when you have more than one household with the same famly name.  You try to get the money to one family and it keeps going to another family.  Just use a mod like the Lot Debugger at MATY to change the last name of the families (Jones-1, Jones-2, etc)

Just a side note if you use two part last names like Du Vall, St. John, etc... neither of those cheats work on those families.

Yes, they do. If you put quotation marks around the name. So for St. John, it'd be familyFunds "St. John" 100000. Or whatever amount.
