I have deleted EVERYTHING in my downloads accept my Create-A-Sim stuff.

and still in my custom content pop-up thing in my loading screen says I still have CEP-EXTRA items that could cause problems wih my game.

Like I can't go into the 3rd page of my decorative micelaneous or my sculptures because the game will crash.

I have searched in the downloads organizer and still can't find anything.

I really need someones help!

Thanks!

We discussed an issue with this problem already in an older thread, so I think I know exactly what's going on.  Check the folder that says zCEP_Extra and disable any items that aren't available with the EPs you have.  (should be easy, as each file has the object names in them... if you find any that's unfamiliar, take 'em out or rename the extension part to ".off")  That should fix the problem.  Wink

BTW, You don't always have to worry about what the custom content pop-up says, because any download you put in your game is a risk, and it labels it so.  Flags any sort of mesh or hack, no matter what.    It's easier just to not worry about it and turn it off through the Game Options menu.

It should be somewhere in your Sims 2 folder (that is, if you used the installer to put CEP on your computer).  If not, check around in your Downloads folder for that particular file, or even perform a search on your PC for that name.  Wink

Theres the funny thing, I searched 3 times and nothing. and I never ever downloaded them, I don't even know what they are. It also doesn't show up in Download Organizer or Clean Pack Installer. I hope I'm not being a bother. Sorry.

  Huh... well, try searching for any of these files pictured:

That might help.  Seeing as you only have each EP until Pets and no SPs, I'd suggest (if you find them anywhere) kicking out the CEP-EXTRA_AtomicAgeLamps, CEP-EXTRA_CountryToilet, CEP-EXTRA_GardenRocks, and I think the CEP-EXTRA_MilanoDiningTable and CEP-EXTRA_LuxuryStereo files.

Ah... Okay.  Then you can leave the "Garden Rocks" and "Country Toilet" ones be.  Those should work fine.  It's most likely some of the others. (as those were my problem files exactly, since I have up to Seasons, No Pets, No SPs.  Wink)

And you're welcome.  :smile bi:

If you have all of the EPs then just leave them, they are fine, all they do is allow for custom recolors of the said Maxis objects. Obviously, if you don't have some of those items, then remove the pieces for EPs you don't have.

I have a mac, so what I say may not apply. However, I was having weird crashes, when I was trying to load the 'buy" menu stuff.  My son sorted things out by taking the CEP-EXTRA_GardenRocks out of the cep folder for me.  I had, at that time, sims 2, university, open for business, pets, nightlife, and seasons.  It crashed as well, when I reloaded and added bon voyage.  So I took the rocks out, and things have been fine.

All so I read somewhere, today, that you may have to reinstall the cep, to make it work right with apartment life. Others say take it out, until Numenor updates it.  Try taking out the rocks.
To install the cep on a mac, you have to do it by hand...or whatever... Here is where the folders are on the mac:

You will probably find them  in windows in my documents and program files:

To quote:

"Extra" folder:

Open it and you will find 2 subfolders, "MyDocuments" and "ProgramFiles".

c1) Open the "MyDocuments" folder and move the entire "zCEP-EXTRA" subfolder, along with the several files contained in it, in:

HOME (the icon with the little house) -> DOCUMENTS -> EA Games -> Sims "

and

"NOTE: *DO NOT* put the "zCEP-EXTRA" folder into the Downloads. It goes into the "Sims 2" root folder!

c2) Open the "ProgramFiles" folder and move the entire "zCEP-EXTRA" subfolder, along with the several files contained in it, in:

    MAIN DRIVE -> THE SIMS 2 -> TSDATA -> RES -> CATALOG"

Sorry top dig up and old thread, but I have only come across this issue today.
I Clicked on the Misc icon in decorations and the game would crash.
Compared the files in my Sims 2 folder to a clean original one and came across this folder as the culprit.

How important is the zCEP-EXTRA folder?

I have removed it and everything seems fine, nothing odd has happened since.

Not too important.  It just includes extra fixes that Numenor made concerning certain EP-related objects.
