If by that you mean you downloaded all the files on the first page, then that is the problem. You only need one of the files depending on which expansion packs you own. Version 1.06 is the English version for all expansion packs through Open for Business/Family Fun Stuff.

but ... I have a request. I have looked all through this thread and can't see it anywhere and I have the new version and have checked ... is it possible to add the crying animation - you know as in when a family member just died. I didn't see this
 
mindyou, I'm often guilty of not being able to see the wood for the trees so if it's there already there just slap me with a wet fish to let me know and I'll slink off and indulge in a bit self-flagelation
