31  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / Downtown Community - Mario's Italian Lemonade Stand by VJ Development on: May 27, 2007, 01:41:38 pm

OMG, flash from the past! Excellent choice! As for "expect dilapidated, you'd be in for a pleasant surprise. Thanks so much!

LOL! I was thinking of this tiny shack on the corner that we used to go to when I was a kid. It was seriously a box with a window cutout, but they had the best ice. Everyone from everywhere went there. I wish I could remember the name of it. I blame my mom...she used to say "who wants Taylor St?". LOL...

Hey lewis, this is actually the most profitable business I've ever had. I just put one of those charge by the hour machines in front and the sims just love to drink and talk. My family doesn't even go near the business. They hired someone and they do all the work.

These houses are adorable. Can I use these in my hood? I plan on uploading my whole neighborhood when I'm done creating it, though, so if you don't want the lots to be shared with it just say so. I won't use them. I'll only share through this site or my own.

Um... :smt105

Chicago's Flavor:

Mario's Italian Lemonade Stand

Even after all the years I haven't lived in Chicago, there is one place that I always think of as summer draws near. Taylor Street. Welcome to Little Italy and Italian Ice. The place and the tasty treat go hand-in-hand, I've known them since I was an infant. I remember how excited I used to get when my mom took my sister and I down to Taylor St. to get some Italian Ice. We'd stand in a very long line, get our favorite flavors, and sit on somebody's stoop to enjoy it. Once in a while, an old lady would stick her head out of her window and scream at us in Italian to get off her stoop or grass. What I loved most about it was that there were so many people from so many different neighborhoods all there to enjoy that summertime treat. Mario's isn't the place we used to go...that place closed down, but I hear Mario's is the new best. So if you're ever near the UIC campus, check them out. P.S. Mario's will look nothing like this lot. Expect dilapidated.

Italian Ice in Chicago is different from other places like New York and Pennsylvania. In Chicago, a similar Italian summer refresher is called Italian lemonade or ice. It's typically made by mixing crushed or chopped fruit and/or flavoring with a frozen lemon slush made from fresh lemon juice, sugar and water. In most cases, the base is lemon, even when other flavors, such as watermelon, cantaloupe, raspberry coconut and even chocolate are added.

35  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / Downtown Living Large Dorm/Apartment in 2 Flavors by VJ Development on: May 16, 2007, 03:06:03 pm
EP's Required

Features

5 Floors     8 Bedrooms     10 Bathrooms
Security System   Landscaped   Garage
Open Floor Plan

For a city neighborhood, this is a great space filler. Don't be fooled by the main image, it really adds an urban vibe to your city. My inspiration for this "apartment" comes from the Hyde Park area of Chicago where these types are common. UIC is also located in Hyde Park, that's why I chose this style. Wink

Like the other, it comes in Residential and Dorm format. There are 8 apartments/dorms. I would definitely say that these are luxury, especially for being dorms so send your really rich sim kids here.

*Note: Contact me if you want the FURNISHED version of these lots.*

These 1x2 lots are really small. I tried to make it as comfortable as possible, but I think your sims will be a little cramped. I suggest using these for singles or as space fillers in your neighborhood.

The garage is too small for a car. There is a parking slab in the front. The taxi and school bus will still come, but if you don't want it there, just delete it.

This is a starter!?

*Misty signs up for Muses "Money Management" class

Can't believe you really don't like it. I think it's cute...and affordable is even better! I only just realized that my houses are too expensive so when I do start playing my actual game, my starter sim can't live anywhere! lol

Oh, and I think seasons broke the curbside parking thing. I've been trying to so it in the series I'm working on right now, but it causes some craziness.

Sorry that I'm sending you elsewhere for links. It's just that with a newborn and life, uploading can be quite time consuming. I'm just trying to shorten it.

Features

3 Floors     3 Bedrooms     2 Bathrooms
Security System   Landscaped   Furnished
Garage   Living Room   Master Bedroom

This house has the same Chicago look as Downtown Living III, but has a whole different floor plan. It's much more spacious, there is plenty of room for a medium sized family.

The house is semi-furnished. I furnished and decorated the 1st floor (living room and kitchen).

*NOTE: If you didn't get Jonesi's modular stair script before, you will need it now.

NOTE 2: I had some decorating mishaps in this one. One is that the slot package for tables turns visible when you exit and re-enter the lot. You can delete those if you like. Another thing...the microwave in the kitchen is a real microwave, not deco as I thought. You'll have to move or delete it. I also forgot to leave the counter space open. You should delete the juicer thingy.

Ceiling tiles?  Where do you get the mesh?

There is a link to the meshes at the top of this post...under Required Meshes.

Thanks for the comments, everybody! I'm glad others will get some use out of these. :-P

Visible Ceiling Tiles Version 3.0 by jgwhiteus

Well, as you may know, I build houses for the game. I take fancy, decorative pictures to try and make the lot look as real as possible. I use ceiling tiles by jgwhiteus. They are great, but after seeing every single house with the same ceiling, it got pretty drab and boring. Not to mention that sometimes the colors don't match...

So, I decided to do some flavorful recolors:

White Tiles

Burgundy Tiles

Stucco

White Wood

Fancy Tiles White

Fancy Tiles Other Colors

Plain Tiles White

Plain Tiles Blue

Hope you builders, movie makes, and storytellers can find some use for these...

This is a beauty! Although I don't have a spot for it right now, I'll be sure to grab it when I start developing my rural sub-hood.

Holy-moly! I love the design and the exterior, especially. I'm going to find a place for this cutie somewhere in my suburb.
