16  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Making Restaurant Work on Residential Lot on: April 08, 2011, 05:51:33 pm
Don't know if this is still how it has to be done on an *occupied* lot, but you can't go to collections from buy mode, you have to go from BUILD mode.  The items in the collection will still be greyed out but they can be placed.

An update from me ...

I've created a uniform set that uses your awesomeness Cheesy

(Hopefully I'll get around to posting it here too in the next couple days.)
19  Simmers' Paradise / Tutorials / Re: Tutorial: Babies in Bodyshop. on: March 03, 2011, 10:07:46 pm
This is interesting.  I never knew bodyshop would accept baby-sims.

Does BS allow you to hit the "clone" button and do any editing of any sort on the baby?  I wouldn't expect that it would, at least the editing part.

I shall try this out.  I've exported in-game sims before, but this is interesting.
20  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Game not starting for no reason? on: February 27, 2011, 05:58:19 pm
Have you deleted your cache files?

They're in your My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 folder ... accessory.cache, groups.cache, cigen.package, and Content Registry.

Interesting note: If only bodyshop won't start, you only really need to delete groups.cache, but for the game you have to delete all 4.

But every time you download or remove any CC, you should delete your cache files.  And don't worry if you don't have all 4 there, just delete what you do have.

Edit:  Heh, I guess two people beat me to it.
21  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: I have a strange CAS problem ... on: February 27, 2011, 05:54:13 pm
I do have (Gunmod's) camera mod, but, I've had that for ... well, forever.  My problem just started within the last week.  Sad

If all else fails, I will try that, but I want to exhaust other options first.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Edit:
I just remembered, I have had this problem before, a long time ago.  It ended up being caused by something I downloaded that required an EP I didn't have.  Since I still don't have all EP's and recently went on a downloading spree from a creator who *does* ... I now know exactly where to look Cheesy
(I just hope it's not one of my favorite downloads that I have to remove.)
22  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I have a strange CAS problem ... on: February 27, 2011, 05:07:45 pm
I just started having this strange problem in CAS -
When switching to screen 4 (the makeup) the camera shifts and the sim appears to have jumped off the circular pad thing.  Then if I switch to any other screen which zooms away from their face (1, 2, 5 or 6), the camera drifts off to the left and doesn't stop until it is FAR off the lot, with the CAS-building off in the distance.
Though I haven't tested this more, there was major camera borkiness inside regular lots, too.  Similar problem, the camera's "center point" was nowhere near the actual center of the lot.  I haven't bothered checking this every single time I go in game since that first time though.
Anyways ...
I'm in the process of removing anything I've recently downloaded, but I'm hoping someone can give me some idea what to look for.
23  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Head covering for man and veil for woman on: January 10, 2011, 06:39:57 pm
Hey, I just saw this topic ... I'm looking for something similar, too, so if anyone finds it that would be great  cool
As for the males, something similar but not quite the same can be found here.  With a recolor it might work well.
24  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: What's the last movie you watched? on: September 01, 2010, 11:26:38 pm
Just finished watching Serenity for the second time.  Never watched Firefly, but a friend recommended it to me.  It was good.
I just finished watching Precious. All I have to say about that is this:
 Cry
I want to see this movie, really, really bad.  WCIF?  Can you rent it anywhere?  Or better, buy it?  I haven't seen it around.
From Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog ...  Cheesy
HORRIBLE
Any dolt with half a brain
Can see that humankind has gone insane
To the point where I don’t know
If I’ll upset the status quo
If I throw poison in the water main
Listen close to everybody’s heart
And hear that breaking sound
Hopes and dreams are shattering apart
And crashing to the ground
I cannot believe my eyes
How the world’s filled with filth and lies
But it’s plain to see
Evil inside of me is on the rise
PENNY
Look around
We’re living with the lost and found
Just when you feel you’ve almost drowned
You find yourself on solid ground
And you believe
There’s good in everybody’s heart
Keep it safe and sound
With hope, you can do your part
To turn a life around
I cannot believe my eyes
Is the world finally growing wise
‘Cause it seems to me
Some kind of harmony
Is on the rise
HORRIBLE (overlapping with Penny below)
Anyone with half a brain
Could spend their whole life howling in pain
‘Cause the dark is everywhere
And Penny doesn’t seem to care
That soon the dark in me is all that will remain
Listen close to everybody’s heart
And hear that breaking sound
Hopes and dreams are shattering apart
And crashing to the ground
I cannot believe my eyes
How the world’s filled with filth and lies
But it’s plain to see
Evil inside of me is on the rise
PENNY
Take it slow
He looks at me and seems to know
The things that I’m afraid to show
And suddenly I feel this glow
And I believe
There’s good in everybody’s heart
Keep it safe and sound
With hope, you can do your part
To turn a life around
I cannot believe my eyes
How the world’s finally growing wise
And it’s plain to see
Rapture inside of me is on the rise
26  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Performance on: August 08, 2010, 09:31:46 pm
I also have a (laptop) from mid-2007.  While I don't have all EP's installed, I can certainly sympathize.  I've got over 6 gig of Downloads, and it takes 20+ minutes to load the game.  I'm very fortunate, however, that I can run on all the highest graphics settings with little lag.
First of all, with RAM, you have to make sure what you get will work in your computer.  The best place to check is crucial.com, where you can just input the brand, model, etc of your computer, and it will tell you what is compatible and what is not.  You don't have to buy the RAM from them if you can find it elsewhere for cheaper.
Second, do you have both slots full or just one?  I would assume most computers from 07 would support 2 gig of RAM, and I found that once I upgraded from one to two, things ran a lot faster.
If you are planning on getting a new computer, hold off on the graphics card.  What will work in your old computer may not work in your new computer, and that's something you'll definitely want to move to your new.
For organizing DL's, have you tried Delphy's Download Organizer, at MTS?  I find it's very useful for sorting large download folders (like mine).  While just sorting your CC won't make load times faster, it can help you find things you *don't* want easier.
And yes, if you get a new comp, you can transfer all your files.  This is what I'll be doing myself as soon as I get a motherboard and get my new comp up & running ...
If you have an external hard drive or any large USB flash/pen/jump drive, that's the easiest way to transfer files.  Just copy your whole The Sims 2 folder to the removable drive (which will take a while).
You can even copy all the files from your *Program Files* Sims 2 folder if you want to keep things like mods that modify these files.
In either case, make sure you install all EPs/SPs on your new computer first, making sure to start up the game after each pack installed.  Then install all your "base" mods/stuff like Scriptorium, the CEP, lighting mods, camera mods, etc, etc.  Then copy the folders from the removable drive and let them overwrite everything.
Your Result: Science/Math Nerd
Result Breakdown:
41% Artistic Nerd
I'm somewhat surprised I didn't get literature any higher ... I think it's because I write much more than I actually read anymore ... Sad
I only got so high on "drama" because I did some acting in middle school (read: 7 years ago) that I really enjoyed, but nothing since.
I have no clue what "social" is supposed to be  ...   huh
