16  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The Sims 3 DRM! on: June 03, 2009, 05:30:59 pm
Well, then I'll have to apologize for not being a hardcore gamer, but someone who actually likes to see what they're doing. Then I'll do that for 8 hours straight (or more). I'm not hardcore, I'm critical of the bad quality of games since consoles took over the market.

But that is totally besides the topic - unless you count in that Mirror's -Edge has SuckaROM... Lips Sealed

Where did you get that hair from in your avatar?

Did quoting the quoted quote have any relevance to your question other than duplicating my typo? I hope not, else I didn't get it. Wink

Anyway, the hair ist from the incredibly talented HystericalParoxysm at MTS2: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=213898

And now I have to go play Sims2, cos on my quest for the hair I found the whole House team as sims and I'm gonna have a hysterical evening with them. Grin

I thought I covered the "anatomically correct skins" with "normal human body".
Sorry I didn't think of the other site...

It sounds liek to me like i hav said on other boards, people want a game w/ all the expansions at launch...

Yea, shame on the people who don't want a 500$ game, but only want to pay 50$, how cheap of them!
[That's only half a joke - add up the cost for the expansions and the new cash cow Sims shop...]

I think it's a worthless, bug infested, slow piece of s--t angry

Oh, I am really sorry for you! I know how much you looked forward to it and I thought maybe you'd like it the way it is. The way you defended your decision to buy, you should be thrilled now, or so I thought... Sad
21  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The Sims 3 DRM! on: June 03, 2009, 06:45:48 am
Exactly, Nalia.
Just like Ubisoft did with The Prince of Persia for pc: we give you no DRM to prove you are pirates by making the game as unattractive as possible for pc players (DLC for consoles only, release date pushed behind console release and unexcusable condescention and indifference towards the customers who made this game successful in the first place on the official site).

I say, gaming companies that treat customers as pirates (DRM only burdens customers, not pirates) just pretend and blow the piracy issue out of proportion to deflect the focus from the bad products they offer. And heck, they offer really bad games by the dozens, who wants to buy that, really? I looked at the greatly extolled Mirror's Edge for five minutes and was amazed at how they get away with such baaaad graphics and gameplay and still make it a best seller! shocked And I think I don't need to say anything about the harsh disappointment about the long awaited Spore...

People are getting suspicious and don't want to waste more money on a company that couldn't care less and are accused to be pirates for that. huh

Ouch!
Since when is a normal human body naughty and why do you have to be an adult to have one?
I don't think it's healthy for teens to be taught that people withough a censor blur are bad. Wink

To amend my earlier posting: I think, when you look closely, males do have a faint shadow for nipples, so maybe it isn't as impossible to edit than I thought. BUT. The resolution of the skin files is so baaaaad and as long as that can't be changes, details would still look hideous.
23  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The Sims 3 DRM! on: June 03, 2009, 05:51:33 am
Well, duh!
I can't fathom why there's still no laws that obligate publishers to inform customers about DRM on the box. There are for music cd's. And the lack of these laws are global. They miss in Europe just as well as in the US. It's a big conspiracy. Wink

And I can't believe this guy confessing that they chose to deceive the customers until release day, so the pre-orders wouldn't get cancelled. Well, the ones that didn't already fell victim to the accidental demo (yes, here you have the reason why a game like that has no demo, it would provoke the exact opposite reaction any other demo would aim for. This version of The Sims sells on reputation alone, or should I say on the reasonable expectations of the customers?).

I've been using the censor blur removal mod, but I'm waiting for all the talented artist out there to create some nude skins.  Removing the blur is nice but the barbi doll bodies are getting old.  I was surprised it was taking this long for the skins to come out, but if none of the modders have the game yet, that explains alot.

I'd be surprised if it would be possible at any time to get rid of the barbie skins! shocked

In TS2 the skin modding was easy, because you could just add custom skin tones to the default ones and they were graphic files. In TS3 the skins are NOT graphic files anymore. You just choose a tone and this tone gets applied on the whole sim body. Imagine it's one pixel of color that gets stretched all over - there's now way to add details into that. I noticed that especially the muscular bodies have way more detail in the mesh itself (there goes your system performance), so they don't need to add graphic detail.

So, to change that, you'd need to hack the game itself and try for a workaround. But that's not legal (see EULA). I know there are very talented modders out there, but I still can't imagine a way to do this - hey, why do you think I'm so mad at EA? Wink

Haha!  Thumbs Up
Yep, that would be the p e r f e c t expansion!

It's sad however that you can't make your own hood no more

Haha, that would of course defy their intention of selling you more hoods in the future.
They're not interested in the fact that customers are people, they're just insatiably greedy.
Sorry for stating the obvious. Wink

You get water reflections, better mirror reflections, bump mapping, and moar eye candy that were introduced to the world more than four years ago.

Bump maps? Where? I was totally mad that they forgot to include them again. Do I need glasses?

I hope EA includes as much as they can in the base game, and that they minimize the EP's...

On the contrary. It feels like they made a game and then cut it in half a dozen slices, where the first slice (base game) turned out quite small. Just a fraction of the furniture and clothes stuff than with TS2. But then again that was to be expected, because they put just the basic neccessities in the base game, so they can sell the stuff you want on their website. And then add back the now missing functions and aspects with the EP's.

Quote
* first and foremost, a programme like SimPe (or better), that lets us make our own stuff... I grow bored if the only thing I can do is to recolor stuff. Maybe even some simple mesh programme that lets you put together furniture in new ways? (though I highly doubt they will put that in...)

More contrary. EA never made SimPe in the first place and they now explicitly forbid modding in the EULA (as far as it is known as of now, see the sticky above). TS3 is a completely different product than TS2. It's a kid's game that you buy "as is" with option for spending a lot more money on additional content.
29  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Cheats on: June 01, 2009, 10:13:03 am
Over at MATY they said there's same sex marriage, not "joined union" like in TS2.
And no cheat code needed for that, lol.
30  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Familys from sims1 or sims2 carried over into sims3? on: June 01, 2009, 10:10:03 am
50 years? That must be quite long. If Mortimer was already let's say 58 years old in TS1 how old is he in TS2 when his daughter already grew up?

Either they live longer than turtles or 50 years is way too long.

Simple math: 58 years minus 50 years? Right, Mortimer is a kid. And Bella, too.
But yes, they now can live as long as turtles (you can chose from short life span to epic).
