As far as I remember (uninstalled OFB, got on my nerves, lol), servos never serve meal, but only light food. It's good for kids, who come home from school, and the parents are still at work.
May be this option changed in higher EPs?

But I had a nanny, with high cooking skills, who all the time served meal at 3 PM for the kids....

May be you downloaded custom lots - they can cause crash too.
Drag your hacks folder to the desktop, and test the game. If it runs well - some hack is not updated.

If you play Seasons, may be the clothing you downloaded has meshes from later EPs (Free Time and Apartments); Drag your clothing sub-folder (if you have one), or your whole Downloads folder to the desktop, restart computer, and try to enter the game again.
If it works - the culprit is the bunch of clothing you downloaded, and need to be deleted.

The latest version of DirectX can be downloaded from Microsoft.

My opinion is, that Free Time is a "dangerous" EP, which clashes with many previous CC/downloads, even if they pass the check of the Clean Installer.

My friend has an enormous number of glitches, since she installed it. After seeing her glitched pictures - I decided not to buy this EP.

I hate to say it, but I think it's a time to buy a new computer, with more RAM and more space. If you have at least 3 EPs, you need 2 Giga RAM, DirectX last version, and more powerful "engine".

If you already have it - the only one culprit I can think of is - Securom...for some computers, it's "Jack the Ripper".... Luckily, my computer stands on the "right side of the needle", without much problems, but only restarting before game.

The name of the folder is Packaged[space] Lots (case sensitive) -

and not as you have written it (PackagedLots).

The best is to package some of your houses (hood view, click  on the  house -> click on asteriks (*) -> package lot to a file), and you will get a message that it is saved in this folder. You can delete after that your house.

I never install a downloaded lot with the Clean Installer, without unchecking all the objects added to it (unless I want them). I want only the house, not the furniture and the surroundings. Not even the walls and the floors. Windows and doors - only if they are original Maxis-made.

So, I make a subfolder in my Packaged Lots folder, and install it there. Thus I can delete it whenever I want.

Danriz, some of it works, and some - doesn't. Usually, if the CC requires only TS2 base game - it will work.
For instance, I downloaded the Inge's variation of Merola's Multi-painting (one square instead of 3), and it works perfectly in story mode - I can add skills, max motives, increase/decrease aspiration mood, increase/decrease hunger and all other motives, etc.
The last version of the Insim works in story mode only in the lot you play, but in free mode it works in community lots and other lots too.

Ancient, I never have seen that baloon popping up - not in the base game - without hacks and mods, and not after that, adding the EPs - with hacks and mods. That, because I built for each sim his own bathroom: four sims - 4 baths; 6 sims - 6 baths...

Yes, I remember until today one very funny event: I put in all the bathrooms only one door (base game), and the simulator gave me an outstanding show: the sim who used the toilet wanted to get out, and the maid blocked his way - wanting to get in to clean; then they began to argue and quarrel, jesticulating like mads, and I died from laugh. But I got the message, and put in the future double door on each bathroom.

No, you are doing just fine. But SLS and Castaway don't accept "advanced" downloads (i.e. correlated to latest EPs, like Seasons, OFB, BV, etc, and accept only few downloads that require only the TS2 base game.

Do you have only one bathroom??? May be this can be the cause for the complaint. Immediately build another 2 at least. I build bathroom for each sim on the lot, usually near his bedroom. Sims like a lot of bathrooms, spoiled....

I don't use the boolprop cheat, but I know that not all custom content can be placed in a community lot - only part of it. And I see this part all the time, because I can buy it in buy mode.

I suggest you to redecorate your hotel without the cheat, and see which CC you can use there. If some CC doesn't appear in the buy mode panel - you can't place it there.  

Globally, I suggest you not to "force" unacceptable CC to a community lot. It can cause glitches and bugs, and can prevent the sims from usual behave, such as "dig in sand", "swim", etc.

It's a bug that existed in the base TS2, and was fixed then by Pescado, by the hack "carpoolfix".  I had it all the time, when General Grant brought a friend home - saw only his/her plumbob.

I know that in later EPs this bug was fixed, because I don't have anymore this hack, nor unvisible sims.

In BV this event returned; when a teen runs away from my house, and I call the police - he returns invisible. Seems that I have to put again the "carpoolfix" hack.
