Simmers' Paradise / Sims Life Stories Help / Installing downladed sims in TSLS?
|

If the CC is packaged (lots, sims), follow the instruction of Marvine.
All the rest files (clothes, hair, etc) have to be copy->pasted into the Dowloads folder of SLS, in a sub-folder (named Clothing, Makeup, Hair, etc).
1) Extract (double-click on the zipped file, choose "extract"), and if you have Winzip, or Winrar - it will be extracted in the same place you have it.
2) Open the extracted folder, copy the files inside (highlight the file with right-click, choose "copy").
3) Enter My Documents/Electronic Arts/SLS/Downloads/[sub-folder], and paste the copied file.
4) After you finish to paste the CC files - restart computer.
Note: SLS is very sensitive to custom content, and if you see that the game doesn't upload - it doesn't accept the CC you pasted. Therefore, you have to check each CC, if it doesn't cause uploading prioblems. Usually, download CC that demands only TS2 base game installation.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims Life Stories Help / Life Stories.....no longer starts up
|
on: June 06, 2008, 11:06:20 pm

When the game doesn't start, there can be two reasons:
1) You changed some content in SLS folders, or in another applications folders - you have to restart computer (Securom).
2) If the game doesn't upload after the restart - it doesn't accept some of your downloads. For instance, my game doesn't start, if I put in the Downloads folder the Insim version 2.7, but starts - if I put the Insim version 2.5.
It means, that all the downloads have to be with CC that demand only TS2 basic game, and the game rejects to accept CC from the latest EPs.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims Life Stories Help / Castaways Custom Walls
|
on: June 04, 2008, 07:52:04 pm

This is my Downloads folder in Castaway:
*image removed because width exceed maximum of 600 pixels*
About the Insim - you have to enter your TS2 Downloads folder, copy the Insim file, and paste it in My documents/Electronic Arts/Castaway/Downloads (create one if you don't have it - right click->new folder->rename to Downloads).
The Insim works only in Free Mode.
In Story mode, wait until you pass to a house with walls, and use Inge's variation of Merola's Multi Painting to one space. You can find there the motives, skills, and aspiration - which you can use even when the sim is at work.
All the files you see, are copied and pasted from TS2 Downloads folder.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims Life Stories Help / Repricing lots in Castaway Stories?
|
on: May 27, 2008, 08:35:08 am

If you pass around the Island (Ctrl + right mouse), you will see at least 2 lots that cost 5000$ or less. Move your family there, use the motherlode cheat to increase their funds, pull them back to the Family Bin, and you can now buy any lot you want... . The problem is, that you can't build new lots, only "destroy" manually the existing ones, flat the terrain, and build a house according to your taste.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims Life Stories Help / SLS.... Unable to select objects
|
on: May 26, 2008, 09:10:23 am

Not every download is compatible with SLS. I can tell you, that the game doesn't load, if I use the last version of the Insim, but loads, if I use version 2.5 (which is close to the basic TS2). I have only several downloads (hair, outfits, objects) - all of them demand only TS2 basic game.
Take out your Downloads folder, and see if the game runs properly. If it does - you have uncompatible download (mod or other), which demands some TS2 EP. Put them one by one, enter the game, and test when it stops to run properly.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / uninstalling help

You don't have to delete any mod. If all your mods are in a special folder, Named "hacks", or "mods" - you can do it the usual "old way": Drag this folder to the desktop, create another sub-folder named "mods" in TS2 Downloads folder, and move to it one hack at a time. That's what I did, to detect which mod prevent my sims go to class, and do homework. Open a new neighbourhood, build a house, create a "test" family, with at least one teen (to be sent to college). First, play the game without any hacks at all; test all the bugs on this family, and see if the game works proper. Then test on the family all the bugs you found, by adding one hack at a time, enterring the game, and test it. A long and hard labor. ---------------- Ancient, you talk "professionally"... . Most of us, the "peasants", don't bother with all the folders you mentioned, unless the creator of the mod/hack declares, that we have to put his hack in another special folder (for instance "collections"), which make us to save this folder too. You defenitely are right about each folder your mentioned. But I doubt, if many of us perform overrides to other folders. Personally, I am satisfied, if I don't lose my Neighbourhoods, downloads, walls, floors, packaged lots, terrains, and saved sims folders... .

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Creating Sims in Bodyshop...
|
on: May 24, 2008, 07:09:55 pm
|
After you finished to create a sim in Body Shop, you have to close the window, and now you have to choose from the main menu (the window of "create a sim") the option: "package a sim", click on your newly created sim, and confirm the package. The packaged sim file will appear on your desktop.
Double-click on your desktop packaged file, and order "install". It will be installed as it is now, and you will find it's new appereance in CAS.
