Boop!
Boop!
Boop!
 Poke2
Beeeee..zz..eep!
Chainsaw

(Just peeked in to incapacitate a bot - one snuck through the defences today, but didn't get very far. It has been rather quiet in the bot corner lately. Maybe the bear traps need a check... They've been quarantined since early-2020 for... you know... reasons  Undecided).

Anyway - any news?
17  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / Re: Base Game Desk Add On (End Table) on: April 16, 2021, 04:56:57 pm
^ It's done via the repository technique (also called slaving).

A couple tutorials if you're interested:
https://modthesims.info/t/229452
https://hugelunatic.com/repository-technique/

Can also be used to make CC items pick up textures from other CC items, especially to reduce the need for recoloring and for mix-and-match purposes. Jonesi's blanket is a popular one.

It's a file editing program for TS2. You can edit files, make CC, edit neighborhoods/sims/etc., and do quite a lot more with it.

I think it depends on which ones you download, because morphs are per mesh, so one mesh could have them and another not.

Quickest way to figure out is to open the mesh file in SimPE, click on the GMDC, and then click on the "model" tab. The "model section" lists which morphs are included (fatbot/pregbot)

I checked a random top (this one: http://www.insimenator.org/index.php/topic,4390.0.html ) and the naked mesh has both morphs, but some of the clothes only have a fatmorph. I'm guessing they're following the same pattern as the original tops.

If I understand it correctly, there's some sort of "open file limit" on Macs, and it can affect both CC and saved files in addition to other files you have open - but you can do things to fix it, at least to some degree, and the limit can be increased (it's explained a lot better than I can in the two topics I linked, espiecially in lordtyger9 and muridae's posts)

If you've recently reinstalled and shifted folders around, have you remembered to enable CC again?

The whole moving things around can be a bit iffy if you don't do it properly. Personally, I'm more of a "the entire TS2" folder than "just the NH and LotCatalog folders" because there's the Config folder with all the ingame settings, Camera folder with potential camera hacks, and various other folders you may at some point have edited the contents of with/without knowing. Not all are important, but some can be very annoying to forget.

Anyhow, here's the Mac collection of help topics at MTS - there's several on missing CC and similar issues to yours, maybe some of it can be of help.

Could possibly be related to this issue:

- https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=613494 (same issue)

First of all - are you on a PC or Mac? I think this has been an issue with Macs under certain circumstances, in which case I'd have to go look up some topics on MTS.

Either way, how much harddrive space do you have left on your PC/Mac? You should have at least 10 GB free to be safe from sudden deletions. If the game doesn't have enough space to save the game, it can start randomly delete and/or not save things. Some is used as VRAM, some is for the storing process, and some is just for making sure all the processes work, because the computer uses the main harddrive for other things than storage.

As for CC, make sure you haven't put the files too deep into your Downloads folder. a max of 3 subfolders deep, avoid anything but simple letters Aa-Zz, 0-9 and underscore _
Anything else adds extra thinking power to the files and folder path. The entire file path should not be more than 255 characters long (but much shorter if there are any special characters or spaces), or else the game cuts them off and won't show them ingame.

Also make sure your antivirus program isn't eating up sim files and spewing them out in the quarantine bin. Apparently the Windows 10 antivirus is very hungry for Sims programs these days (it's been reacting to some TS4 programs and various other things).

And of course, make sure you have a backup at hand before these things happen. Preferably a different place than the computer so it's safe from any issues that happens on the computer.

Why would gerbils need to know how to play poker?  huh

Unless...

Maybe you can get some help from these mice, because they clearly have the game figured out:

25  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: What are you currently doing (besides being here)? on: December 08, 2020, 05:38:33 pm
I'm currently dreading to go ingame. Just installed a lighting hack I've never tried before (it's an upgraded/edited version of the one I used to have by Gunmod), but installed manually, in my rather unstable game (I've had enough crashing, pink-flashing and bright CAS issues and whatnots for an eternity) and now I'm just waiting for everything to blow up. If everything fails, at least the game doesn't look half bad with default lights...

Feels like every time I try to do anything new, something blows up in my face...  Headwall

First I just had to get the game to run so I could even get as far as to the neighborhood without it going all crazy on me. Then there was the pink-flashing (and crashing) on lots I had for half an eternity (and then some), which I finally found a (hopefully mostly permanent) fix for, but had to remove the other "fix" that supposedly helped because it caused my game to randomly crash for no apparent reason (again), and then my CAS went all wonky, and I had to update the drivers, but for whatever reason random items are self-illuminated in CAS. I have no idea why, and it bugs me (but I don't want to install that DXVK "fix" again, because I found it annoying).

The sneaky little bastards.

I tend to go through recent profiles occasionally, and wipe out the obvious spam sccounts, even if they haven't posted yet, because sometimes they're silent before the storm. I know sometimes they just make a heap of spam accounts and don't post anything, but I still find it very annoying so they gotta go. Haven't seen any obvious ones here lately, though.

I did a purge a while back, and wiped out as many as I could find of those spam accounts (the ones not already banned - did add several of the worst offenders to the ban filter), just to avoid as many zombies as possible. There have been a few zombies - or rather, some advertising with the same spam links who posted with several years between.

Maybe do something similar to whatever you did over here, because it's been rather quiet the past months. I haven't seen a lot of bots lately - hardly any the past 3-4 months or so, to the point where it's almost eerily quiet (but I'm not complaining, cause those bots sure can be annoying).

*Douses Katie with a high pressure hose* What's all this rucket? Can't a girl get some peace and quiet here?

*Goes back to typewriter* Hey, who took my typewriter?
Oh yes... we're not in the 50s and I don't have a typewriter. Must have been a dream.

*Wakes up next to the laptop*

Again?  Undecided

*Goes back to writing*

Now, what was I doing? Ah, some research. I'm just going to visit a couple other pages first, and- Oooh, new stuff to download! Lemme just go do that, and...  *gets distracted*

*Looks up* ... Why are you dripping water all over the floor, Katie?  huh *hands mop* You go clean that up while I... Oooh, SQUIRREL! *points off vaguely in a random direction and promptly gets distracted by something shiny again*
29  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Where can I find Meshes for Brunos Secret weapons Sleepwear-Adults on: October 25, 2020, 02:26:25 pm
The Insim link was just a bit broken, this one should work: http://www.insimenator.org/index.php/topic,81127.0.html
The rest are included in the files or use ingame meshes.

Have you redownloaded and reinstalled the CEP? You'll need that for a lot of painting recolors to show, along with recolors of a lot of the EAxis furniture, possibly some CC items as well.
